Betting tips: Boston Bruins vs. San Jose Sharks 11/30

The Sharks are in for a tough evening at TD Garden. There’s a decent chance for lots of goals.

Nice position to start December

The Boston Bruins’ very best form has cooled down a bit towards the end of November. The Bruins have suffered four defeats from the previous five games. In the big picture, Boston has nothing to worry about. Having a record of 14-4-3 and sitting on second place in the conference makes for a nice to start the last month of 2023.

Of the top players, David Pastrnak is fifth on the scoring charts and currently on pace for around 120 points. Charlie Coyle, previously known from his secondary scoring abilities, has stepped up to fill a bigger role by scoring almost a point per game. I am also impressed by the 19-year-old rookie Matthew Poitras. Last year’s second round pick has started his NHL career with a .48 PPG despite clocking only 14:35 of playing time per game.

Still the worst in the league

The San Jose Sharks have become a common laughingstock in conversations between NHL followers. The Sharks kicked off the season with an 11-game losing streak. During that streak, there were even some speculations about whether this might be the worst NHL team of the 2000s. In the next 11 games, the Sharks picked up five wins, breaking the worst downward spiral.

Although November was much better in San Jose than October, the Sharks are still the worst team in the league by any statistically significant measure. A goal difference of -54 at this stage of the season tells the whole story about this team.

On top of that, the Sharks will find it difficult to fully realize their potential due to current injuries. There is a full line of players suffering from various injuries. The most notable names on the list are captain Logan Couture and the team’s best forward Tomas Hertl, who is day-to-day after missing the last game.

Overs look interesting

The expectations for this game are unusually one-sided. Boston will dominate the puck and the action, and San Jose’s starting goalie will need a strong performance to steal points for his team. In terms of expected goals, Boston’s advantage is roughly in the two-goal range.

There is a decent chance we might see some peculiar results with such a huge difference between the teams. Boston is known for playing low scoring games, but this one has the makings of an exception to that rule. Over 6.5 with OT and shootout included is +135 on Unibet. This is a breakeven bet at +125, so let’s invest two units and hope for a burst of goals.

Tip: Over 6.5 Inc. OT & Shootout @ +135
Units: 2/10

The match will start on 11/30/2023 at 7:00 PM EST.
